Training for My first 10K Run in PRBM 2016

Here’s a training program for all runners; FROM complete beginners to experienced ones, aspiring to successfully complete your FIRST 10KM run at PRBMon 16th Oct 2016!

The program will be run in groups in different parts of the city and you can join any group as per your convenience.

This is a FREE OF CHARGE activity by the PRBM Organizers. The trainers would be as desperate as you to get you past the finish line!

Training Launch on Sunday, 28th August 2016, 7:00AM. VenuePune University Main Building.

FAQ

How will the program help?

This is a structured program developed based on extensive experience and knowledge. You get to interact with experienced people who would answer all your questions. Training in a group is much more fun.

Who can follow this program?

Anyone with or without a running background. However, please get your doctor’s permission to take part in this program. Pune Running will not be responsible for any consequences.

When and where will we train?

Depending upon the participants and trainers we will organize the training in various parts of Pune –

Aundh, Baner, Pashan, Bavdhan, Kothrud, Deccan, Wakad, Pimpale Saudagar, PCMC, Magarpatta, Sinhagad road, Swargate, Satara road, Sahakar Nagar, Koregaon park, Kalyani Nagar, Kondhwa, Viman Nagar, Pune University, Shivaji Nagar. More areas can be added later.

Will I have to run non-stop?

Not at all. We will follow the easily doable run-walk technique.

Will there be a target time to finish the run?

No time targets. The goal is to complete the distance in a reasonably comfortable manner.

What if I miss a run?

It is ok if you miss out sometimes. Just go with your trainer’s advice when you resume.

Why is Strength Training included in the Training?

Running, is NOT a Legs-only exercise. We use the muscles of our entire body to move forward. To maintain balance, to avoid fatigue and injuries it is very important that the all our supporting muscles are strong. The Strength training exercises are intended to make the supporting muscles stronger.

Alternatively, you may go to the gym or do swimming, cycling or yoga on strength training days.

Can I join mid-way through the program?

Yes, you may. Please discuss details with your trainer.
